Portsmouth Compact Ceremony to display original Compact and Southwick copy of Declaration of Independence
Join the Portsmouth Historical Society as we celebrate Founders Day on Friday, March 6th from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
Witness history firsthand as the town’s founding document, the Portsmouth Compact from 1638, arrives under police escort from the Rhode Island State Archives in Providence. This year marks Portsmouth’s 388th birthday, and we invite you to join us for a short ceremony.
Replicas of the Portsmouth Compact will be available for purchase at the event.
