April 17 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Join us at the museum on April 17th for a talk on Survival of the Fittest: A Century of Golf at Montaup Country Club. The club’s historical committee will be presenting selections from the book that was created to commemorate the club’s centenary last year. Montaup Country Club sits on what was once the farm of William Alfred Chase in “the neck” of Portsmouth. The area was known for its sprawling apple and peach orchards. Learn about the role the club played during World War II, the one-armed pro-golfer who frequently played its course and the cemetery on the seventeenth hole.Â
Free for Portsmouth Historical Society members. $5 otherwise.
